You make the rockin' world go round
What the stars have in store: Be bold.
Make like a tree and leave (any old patterns, habits or relationships that are no longer serving you, that is). The Harvest Moon in Aries tonight offers a time of reflection, reevaluation and renewal. Quiet the noise and look inward. Are you living your highest truth, or do you need to make any adjustments to get there? With fiery Aries energy in the air, use your unique talents and skills to create positive change. Be brave enough to let go of anything or anyone holding you back.

The Autumn Equinox allows us to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of nature and live in gratitude for all that we’ve accomplished in life. A great way to celebrate is through random acts of kindness, like this 30-day optimism challenge. Try going out of your way to do something unexpected and selfless today, like leaving a nice note on a stranger’s car or buying a coworker a treat to brighten up their day.
You want a hot body?
This week, everyone is up in arms about body image. One woman is publicly begging fashion brands to #makemysize while another bares it all in a photo showing scars from her thighs chafing. People have a lot to say about this Cosmo cover (for instance that it’s dangerous, promotes obesity and will inspire young women to be unhealthy), and the people taking a stand are demanding respect for all, pointing out that health and weight do not determine your worth as a human.
Move over, skinny b*tches have had the floor long enough! Unrealistic and unattainable beauty has monopolized mass media (so much so that most teenage girls believe society values physical attractiveness over things like intelligence and confidence).
It’s time our society started appreciating all body types. Seeing overweight women embrace their bodies is not going to inspire everyone to drop their exercise routine, but it will help even the playing ground. Overweight does not necessarily mean unhealthy, just as thin doesn’t always mean healthy. What is unhealthy is the obsession our society has with weight and the skewed perception of beauty that’s triggered it.
The pendulum may be swinging from one extreme to another, but if it helps us land in a more realistic place then so be it!
Wanna quiet down over there?
Vipassana is ten days of silence and self-observation, said to be one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself. By focusing on the deep connection between mind and body, students learn to decondition their minds to eventually acknowledge their thoughts and sensations without reacting to them. Vipassana helps uncover inner wisdom and true happiness through the understanding that nothing is permanent.
If ten days of silence is out of the question, there are other ways to bring more positivity and joy into your life. Remove “should” from your vocabulary (like I “should” feel excited or I “should” do this), and release any emotional expectations during a given situation. For example, don’t expect an activity or event to make you “happy”, open your mind up to a huge range of positive emotions that you could potentially gain from the experience without limiting yourself to one specific goal.
It’s 5 o’ clock somewhere
And we’re busting out the clean-crafted wine (aka wine made without any of the 300 pesticides and 250 chemical additives you can find in most mass-produced wine)! Find out what else is hiding in there and how to avoid it here, plus a chance to win your very own clean-crafted bottle!
You won’t even get hungover anymore… but just in case you slip up, we’ve also got 8 natural ways to cure a hangover that actually work.
So hot right now
Rhythmic drumming. When your day takes a turn for the stressful side, put some headphones in, close your eyes and listen to some rhythmic drumming, keeping your attention focused on the beat.
Pre and probiotic toothpaste to keep your mouth bacteria in balance and prevent disease. Beware, traditional toothpaste still wins in the cavity-prevention department, and no prebiotic or probiotic toothpastes have received the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance.
Ayurvedic Neem Oil has tons of medicinal benefits and is now being used to beautify the skin by treating dry skin and wrinkles, healing wounds, stimulating collagen production, reducing scars, treating acne, and even helping to minimize the appearance of moles.
Menstrual cups! If you haven’t made the switch yet, they are far more convenient and sustainable than pads and tampons. No leaks for 12 hours, and they last for about 10 years. Literally, every girl is doing it.
Healthy chocolate mug cake. Yes.
We’re starting a weekly challenge! Post a photo or video completing the challenge and tag us @zenzista with the hashtag #zenchallenge for a chance to win fun prizes every month!
This week, the challenge is to replace one product you use with a cruelty-free product!
If you want to know what to look for to make sure it’s cruelty-free or you need a recommendation, we’ve got you covered.
“You tell me to quiet down cause
my opinions make me less beautiful
but i was not made with a fire in my belly
so i could be put out
i was not made with a lightness on my tongue
so i could be easy to swallow
i was made heavy
and half silk
difficult to forget and not easy for the mind to follow”
