Namaste at the beach☀
Authenticity is finally outselling photoshopped models. And even better, priorities seem to be shifting towards comfort over “mainstream sexiness”. Hello, athleisure.
In other news, virtual reality is proving to be an effective way to show the impact of climate change, motivating more people to get behind it.
If you've been feeling a little shaken up since the full moon, you're not alone. The moon enters her last quarter on Wednesday, creating an opportunity for a fresh start. Any turmoil you're experiencing is an invitation to release all expectations about who you're supposed to be and celebrate your accomplishments. Give yourself time and space to celebrate your journey. Letting go of the past creates more space for newness to show up.
Summer is here, and with it, all the body shaming that comes with a swimsuit. After years of being told what a body should or shouldn’t look like, beach body confidence is as close as retraining the brain and replacing any negative thoughts with positive ones. Try these tips to lose the cover-up like the hot chick you are:
Stand in front of a mirror (as close to naked as you can comfortably get), and write down everything you like about what you see. You might be surprised by all the goodness that rises to the top!
Practice acceptance. Naturally, we’d all love to look like Emily Ratajkowski, but so much of the body is genetic and biological. Meaning, there’s only so much we can do. Shaming your body for not looking a certain way is technically self-abuse, and being angry that your body doesn’t look differently will land you in a cycle of negativity.
Instead, ask yourself these questions when you feel negative thoughts coming up: 1) How do I feel when I speak to myself this way? 2) If I weren’t speaking to myself this way, how would I be feeling right now? 3) Whose voice is this? It’s not yours - you learned this critical talk from somewhere. 4) What do I need in order to take care of myself right now? Pretend like you are talking to a friend instead of yourself. Would you say the things you’re saying to yourself to a best friend?
Skip the scale and, of course, social media, where fat freezing and photo filters work wonders.
Traci Bank Cohen, Psy.D. said it best. “Create a loving relationship with your body. You get only one in this lifetime, so it’s a relationship that you want to nurture, not torture."
When you’re feeling nostalgic...
Think about how the sports and hobbies you grew up with shaped you into the person you are today. This girl talks about “grace under pressure” and what else 14 years of ballet taught her.
Save that money honey
No matter how much you make, it’s hard to save money when there are so many fun things to spend it on! Be like a squirrel and start putting some away - even if you need to start small. Figure out your “why” and visualize that nice vacation or dream home, start a new account so it’s not as easy to transfer between accounts, do some homework to see if you can get a discounted rate or find a better deal than what you’re currently working with, and remember: a side hustle doesn’t have to be a time suck - it could be as simple as babysitting for a night. Don’t let your ego be your amigo on this one!
So hot right now
Ombre snack boards. Gimme gimme.
Wool dryer balls instead of dryer sheets. Toss ‘em in your laundry to decrease drying time (meaning less energy used), eliminate static, make clothes soft and decrease wear and tear. Just add a couple drops of essential oil for your own fresh scent without all the chemicals.
The Omad Diet, aka ONE MEAL A DAY... Making skinny people hangry everywhere.
Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child - our own two eyes. All is a miracle.
